Modern Medical Imaging Dr. Helena Nikolopoulou Diagnostic Radiologist
Dr. Helena Nikolopoulou, radiologist offers accurate diagnostic radiology services, having as base the island of Mykonos.
The radiologist was born in Athens and graduated from the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. After her graduation, her specialization took place at the Children’s hospitals Aglaia Kyriakou and Agia Sofia and at the hospitals Evaggelismos and Aretaieio; she also attended semesters of specialization training in England and in the USA.
In October 2010 she transferred her base from the Medical Association of Athens to Mykonos. Her personal medical company “Modern Medical Imaging” is housed in the Private Polyclinic “Mykonian Hygeia”, which operates on the island of Mykonos for 30 years.
The medical company includes the following departments:
Ultrasound scanning of the adult body (thyroid gland, upper-lower abdomen, soft tissues, etc.)
Ultrasound scanning for children
Obstetric ultrasound scan
Mammography CT-ultrasound – Elastography
Bone density measurement with the DEXA method (Osteoporosis control)
Our medical office is equipped with a modern digital mammography unit, a Siemens Mammomat 300 Nova model. It is a state-of-the-art technology and high reliability unit that can offer the best possible diagnosis to patients. At “Modern Medical Imaging”, we pay particular importance to mammography, because its contribution in the early diagnosis of breast diseases is very high. Early diagnosis is many times equivalent to healing.
The breast department is fully cooperating with the ultrasound department. All women over 40 should undertake a mammography examination at least once a year, but this examination should be performed even at younger ages, if there are medical signs.
CT scan department
In our Medical Office has operated, for the first time on the island of Mykonos, a CT scan Department. It is a modern multidetector CT scanner, with which a high imaging quality can be achieved, within a short time and with a low radiation dose.
Computing Tomography or CT consists a noninvasive method of imaging of the internal organs, soft tissues, vessels and bones. It often consists a method of choice for the study of the human body, as it combines the excellent imaging not only of soft structures, but also of bones and vessels in general.
A typical example of this are the cases of multiple examinations, such as the simultaneous examination of the brain, throat, chest, upper and lower abdomen, which is performed within a short time period.
The contribution of this department is particularly important in the emergency primary medical care, 24 hours a day, also because of the high number of traffic accidents that happen on the island, particularly during the summer months.
The detection of hemorrhages in the brain, in cases of brain injury, as well as in other organs, is of vital importance in all emergencies, such as traffic accidents.
Our medical office is equipped with a modern high-tech CT-ultrasound scanner, which highly contributes to the primary medical care of the inhabitants of the island.
It has high standard properties and meets all modern requirements of ultrasound scanning, with very high speed and diagnostic validity. It is equipped with a full series of transducer heads, which are suitable for all diagnostic examinations.
Furthermore it has the best color image quality for 3D & 4D imaging, an integrated data management system that offers to it very high performance in examination recording and reviewing.
The modern examinations that can be performed regard the imaging of:
The thyroid gland: Thyroid & parathyroid glands
The upper abdomen: Liver, Spleen, Pancreas, Kidneys
The lower abdomen: Urinary bladder, Prostate
The genital organs: Uterus & Ovaries, Scrotum
Large vessel TRIPLEX: Carotid & spinal arteries, Arteries & veins of the upper & lower extremities
The imaging of Breasts
The Soft Tissues: Musculoskeletal
Furthermore all types of obstetric ultrasound scans can be performed, as well as the breast ultrasound with the revolutionary and innovative method of elastography.
